vanpoodle Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Received $7 per night bonus cash good for 24 hours thought I would try to put it to use. I know it's really early yet but thought I'd give it a try. Bid up to $100 +$7 for Notting Hill, Regent's Park, Westminster, Mayfair. Also bid up to $91+$7 for Finsbury, Kensington, City, Bloomsbury using free re-bids and permutations like mad. Not even a counteroffer in sight. Hopefully deals will materialize so this won't be too expensive a trip! Just sharing info for now, will keep trying closer to the trip and willing to go a lot higher if I have to (but I have a record of landing great deals under $90, was shocked the time I had to go up to $120 for Chelsea!!!). We're actually there for 9 nights so I'm splitting it up into a few stays because I think I'm likely to save quite a bit of money that way plus I love the chance to check out new hotels and new parts of the city.Retail rates for these dates from Hilton's site are $193 for the Hilton Hyde Park (Notting Hill), $153 for the Hilton Islington, $295 for the Hilton Paddington (Notting Hill), $355 for the Hilton Park Lane (Mayfair), $253 for the Hilton Green Park (Mayfair), $238 for the Waldorf Hilton (Bloomsbury). So I'm not outlandishly low!

vanpoodle Posted May 2, 2012 Author Report Posted May 2, 2012 thanks -- I see that gray h was successful at $95 for the Marriott Regent's Park one month prior to my dates so I'll keep trying. I am working through the zones with permutations for rebids for Oct 2-5 and Oct 5-8 up to $100. Maybe I'll have the same luck as grayh? who knows! My bids aren't outrageously low considering the retail pricing but I'm a long ways in advance. I'm using the PRICELINE links off this site each time I bid.
vanpoodle Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 I have been bidding using $20 bonus cash from the Entertainment Book, good to Dec 31, 2012. I am doing some low offers right now since my stay is some ways away. I was rejected a few times today when I tried again to bid, I am slowly creeping higher. Now my bonus cash vanished. I was about to re-bid and went back in. It is gone, my prior bid had been rejected. I switched browsers, went from IE to Safari in case it was a Microsoft problem, but that doesn't seem to be it. I emailed their customer support. Has anyone seen this? Any ideas as to whether there is anything I can do?
vanpoodle Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 This was an odd one. My bid was rejected on the spot, then about 45 minutes after I'd given up, I got an email from PL responding to my request and officially rejecting my bid. Then bonus cash reappeared when I logged in. Very odd, but glad it's back!

vanpoodle Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 Wow, just won a bid on this one, after being rejected last week up to $100 in this zone.Did permutations for Notting Hill and Regent's Park with Westminster and Mayfair added in as rebid zones starting at $85. Went up a dollar at at time to $91, then jumped to $93, figuring I wouldn't get anything today anyway and should increase the spread between my bids, so maybe I paid too much!Had $20 bonus cash from the Entertainment Book which PL said worked out to $6.67 a night.I've never stayed in this hotel or in this zone before so it should be interesting!
AaronJB Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Superb deal for this Marriott property. Glad you are looking forward to your stay.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
