vancouverite Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 This may be a bit last minute to be helpful, but I just had a bid accepted for a 3* downtown at $58 checking in July 18 (tomorrow) for one night, and ended up with the Hyatt Regency. It was my first bid on a 3*, though I'd also tried bidding on 4*s, unsuccessful at both $65 and $70.July 2nd we'd used Priceline to get a room July 16 also in the Hyatt for $70 on the first bid. At that time I had gone up to $85 trying for a 4 star with no success. The problem with bidding on 3*s in Montreal is that, unlike 4*s where no other areas have that class, you only have one shot at downtown. On Hotwire this morning it looked to me like they had the Hyatt at $71 for July 18 (using the hotel list here to guess that it was the 3.5 star, based on facility list). I used that to guess at what might work with Priceline. I feel like I might have bid a bit high but am still very happy with this hotel at the price(s).
