juicycook Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 I will be visiting Philadelphia soon (in about a month) and have already booked a back up hotel (Travelodge - $75.20 per night) but wouldn't mind seeing if I can't pay less and get a better hotel. I don't really know the area and after looking at past bids I thought I found a nice range to bid ($55-$60), but have not had any luck so far. I'm not too picky and have everything sort of figured out except the golden bid. Obviously I would like the final bid to be under $75.20 a night as I would like to either break even or pay less than I would with my current reservation and a 3* hotel or above if possible. Thanks for any help!Dates: 6/12/12-6/18/12Places I don't mind staying:Convention centerHistoric DistrictRittenhouse SquareBid History:$55 - Convention - 4*$55 - Convention, Historic - 4*$55 - Convention, Historic - 3.5*$55, $57, $59 - Convention, Historic - 3*$60 - Convention, Historic, Rittenhouse - 3*
thereuare Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! At current rates your budget is not going to be enough for a 3* hotel... you'll likely need to be in the $100-$120 area to be successful for this date range. While it may not necessarily help, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. juicycook Posted May 9, 2012 Author Report Posted May 9, 2012 Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately an even bigger issue arose. I'm only 18 and just realized that priceline requires you to be 21. I guess I'm glad I didn't win after all. I know all hotels don't require 21+ but I would rather not run the risk.
Romelle Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 Hotwire would still be a possibility. I just had a "chat" with them and got the response:"It will be indicated at the bottom of the page if you need to be at least 18 or 21 to be assigned as the primary hotel guest."Romelle
thereuare Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 To clarify the above, after you click CONTINUE or 'See details' on a HOTWIRE offer, at the bottom of the next page in the 'Know Before You Go' section it indicates the minimum age required for check-in.Let us know if anything on HOTWIRE appears of interest, and within your age requirement, for your dates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. juicycook Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 I did check out hotwire and the lowest rate in the area was $84 and it appeared to be the same property I've already booked for $75. I'm happy with Travelodge I was just trying to see if I could get more bang for my buck. :P But thanks for all of the info. I always come here first when I need resources and to book with hotwire. Too bad priceline has the 21+ requirement.
