Priceline Hotel: Help Bidding - Dowtown Montreal 20 May 12 - 22 May 12

Was wondering if anyone has guidance on bidding for a hotel in downtown Montreal and Latin quarter from 20 May to 22 May, looking at a decent place (need not be luxurious)...price to beat is Hotel Park Ave at approx $59/night (think it's a 2.5 star).

Actually, PRICELINE rates this property as a 1 star hotel.

What is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept, and if you're setting the minimum at more than 1*, are you keeping your maximum bid at $59/nite?

In theory 1-2 star, it's just that I've been reading reports that some of the 1 stars have serious problems (bedbugs etc). Just need a place that is clean and and safe, but do not want to do shared room/hostel this time.

Really looking at around $50-60$ a night.

All PRICELINE hotels (thru 'name your own price') will have a private bathroom... but you need to decide at what star level you're comfortable that the hotel will meet your needs/definition of cleanliness.

I was researching this stay at MAPS and HOTELS.com and saw some hotels in the ~$60 range which you may want to look into and determine if they have good reviews... may be worth a few extra dollars for a 'known' budget rated property if you know the reviews are positive.

I see someone has already recommended a strategy for 3 star, so I would go with 2 star (I figure I can probably find the one stars fairly cheaply without priceline/hotwire) in Latin Quarter (want to be near UQAM Berri Station), but can be flexible and add downtown Montreal.

Where?? Are they for your specific dates? Have you tried for a 3* hotel yet? Do you want to try for a 3* hotel OR as per your previous comments is your goal the least expensive hotel (regardless of star rating)??

Sorry, thought I had said what I thought :lol: Like the person in the thread asking about 3 star, Latin Quarter/old Montreal, will do Downtown if required, 20 - 22 May 2012. I see that even without bidding some hotels are in the 50-60 range already at one star...wishful thinking but wondering if I could do a two star for about 50-60/night AFTER tax and fees, without getting a bedbug-infested place.

Have not tried for the 3 star yet.

Did you want to bid Latin Quarter/Old Montreal up to your limit before considering Downtown OR is the least expensive in either of these zones the ultimate goal?
