Hotwire Hotel: Held ID 4* Downtown Miami

I want a nice downtown miami hotel for the last night of my honeymoon (it's essentially a stopover...but still counts as honeymoon), but I really don't want the Hyatt Regency (which is listed as one of the 4* downtown miami hotels) because I've heard terrible things.

Is there any strategy I should use to try and avoid this hotel? I'd be happy with any of the other ones on the list.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You can't bid on, or avoid, a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for.

Is anything within your budget appearing at the 4* level on HOTWIRE when searching for your dates?

HOTWIRE only has 3.5* for my date (08/10-08/11) in the downtown miami area.

I also noticed PL only has up to 4*...does this mean they have no 5* properties or do they just clump them in with 4*? I'm wary to bid on PL because in the normal hotels section on PL the hotel that I do NOT want to stay in has more reviews than all the others combined...does this mean that this is the hotel that is most often given out to winning bids?

If you do not want a particular hotel on PRICELINE in a zone, then it's best not to make that specific bid, as there's no way to avoid a particular property (and review quantity is not an indicator that a property is more likely.) If there is not 5* as an option, then 5* bidding is not available for that zone. What is the property you're trying to avoid?

For the dates 8/10-8/11 this summer. I'm 90% sure it is either the Hyatt or Intercontinental. I really want IC, really don't want Hyatt. The price is $115 a night, and it says that other sites have it listed at $169, although I can't find listings for this price for either hotel. It also has a 90% positive review on hotwire, which leads me to believe it is IC. It also says it has 4 stars on tripadvisor, which IC has but Hyatt doesn't...but I don't know how current those tripadvisor stars are. Any ideas?

Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread. Thanks.

The "regular rate" on HOTWIRE is an average regular rate for 4*'s in the zone.

Please provide the amenities showing with the listing and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID.
