bobby babba Posted May 6, 2012 Author Report Posted May 6, 2012 Update:Tried with the PRICELINE link from your site. AaronJB Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The issue with NYC and 3 people in a room is that many properties offer small (130-180 sq ft) rooms, even at the 3.5*-4* level. There's a definite risk of getting one bed in NYC when using PRICELINE, but this is really one of the busiest periods of the year (although it's kind of on the border; the second half of December is usually expensive, but not as bad as the extremely busy first half), so the risk is even greater. Are you okay with the likely result of one bed when using PRICELINE?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 Are you okay with the likely result of one bed when using PRICELINE?If not, HOTWIRE can still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure accommodations for everyone you include in your search. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. bobby babba Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 Likely London NYC. No bid as room descriptions suggest will not accommodate 3 adults.
AaronJB Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 Is this for the same December date/s as discussed in this Priceline NYC thread? Please keep threads updated, and keep all posts for the same stay within the same thread. Are you searching for three adults on HOTWIRE when coming up with the above listing?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to star your purchases and searches.
bobby babba Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 Yes this is the same booking time. Was moved to this thread because I wanted to get room for three adults, and FAQ suggested Hotwire better for this with NY notoriously small rooms. Bidding for one room, three adults; need a double, as one young couple and a grandmother! Still looking, not much in this range on offer. Originally thought it was the International, but recommendation rate not consistent with previous trip advisor recommendation/postings.Any hints on how close to the holiday season i should wait before booking? Or good backups with friendly cancellation policies should I want to get some protection against no sales?Am I right in assuming that I should be able to get some sort of deal before December rolls around? What sort of difference is there in price between the priceline and hotwire hotels? 10%? More/less?thanks - and I always use the links provided by your website.

AaronJB Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 The % ratings are customer reviews from HOTWIRE; tripadvisor reviews are different and may vary from HOTWIRE in terms of level, given expectations from full fare customers (a number of tripadvisor reviewers) and discount rate customers may differ.Middle of December - if past years are any indication - is quite busy; I'd try looking to lock something in within the next few weeks. Unfortunately a "deal" for these dates is still going to likely be very pricey. Rate difference between PRICELINE and HOTWIRE varies, 10-20% is not unusual, but certainly can be higher or lower. Are you still seeing the same amenities? I'm only seeing restaurant/business/internet/fitness when searching for 3 people for these dates. What price are you seeing with this listing, and what would be your desired max per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
