induhvidyooul Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 Hi everyone! This is my first time posting and I need some help planning a birthday party for my friends and me! We are trying to get two rooms for five people, and definitely want to be on the strip. We want to avoid Trump, so I was thinking we should stick to Las Vegas Strip South? We want to keep our budget to $100 per night, and would like to stay in a four star hotel if possible. Any advice at all would be helpful, as this is my first time bidding on Priceline, even. Thanks!**Quick correction**My friends and I wanted to stay in Vegas from 6/1-6/3. Sorry about the bad title!
thereuare Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! We are trying to get two rooms for five people...Note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)...and definitely want to be on the strip. We want to avoid Trump, so I was thinking we should stick to Las Vegas Strip South? If you're bidding 4* or above both the Strip North and Strip South should be fine... Trump is in the Strip North Vicinity zone, so as long as you add "Strip North" and not the Vicinity one, you should be fine. As well, all the 'known' 4* hotels in the Strip North and Strip South zones are directly on the Strip... it's when you start to get at the 3.5* level when hotels in these two zones begin to stray a little off-strip.We want to keep our budget to $100 per night, and would like to stay in a four star hotel if possible.Let us know if you're willing to take the occupancy risk of using PRICELINE and if so, which zone(s) are acceptable... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. induhvidyooul Posted May 4, 2012 Author Report Posted May 4, 2012 Pretty disappointed... wanted to post this so that others don't encounter this one. I'm guessing I should've checked the forums before? I thought we would get a hotel on the strip, but the description on the website for hotel says it is a BLOCK from the strip. Feel duped. Is that wrong?
thereuare Posted May 4, 2012 Report Posted May 4, 2012 Sorry to hear you're disappointed in the outcome for this one.The deciding factor is the zone boundaries on the map... and this hotel is located within HOTWIRE's boundaries for this zone. You're correct that this property is not directly on the strip, but you'll be able to walk it without much issue. You can even make the walk a bit easier by crossing the street and entering Bally's thru their side entrance and walking thru their casino to the strip (they have a moving sidewalk which takes you the last 300ft or so)Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
