Hi there! it's my first time trying to bid on a hotel!!

I'm looking for a hotel during 6/28-7/2. The MOST I want to pay total is $150 (with taxes) per night, but I want to get a 4*..... Is it too early to start bidding? Is that unrealistic for that time of year??? If I don't get a 4* I'm willing to settle for a 3* if I could get a REALLY good deal...

I want to stay near the magnificent mile, my ideal hotel is the allerton or the hyatt chicago because of their great location near the river & they're right in the middle of everything I want to see. I also want a hotel near good night life if possible... I heard "the loop" is dead at night and mostly for business travelers, i'm going with my best friend so its just us two girls. Any recommendations on my starting bid would be great.. I was thinking of starting as low as $85 & starting my location to "north michigan avenue"... Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Parts of the Loop (especially the West/South) can be very quiet at night. If you are looking to shop, there's plenty of large chains (Nordstrom Rack, etc) downtown, but there's areas in Lincoln Park with a lot of hip little thrift/boutique stores that may be more of a treasure hunt/reasonable.

In terms of staying North of the river, are you okay with any hotel? Additionally, do you mind risking only getting one bed? (Priceline only guarantees one bed/double occupancy - while you can request 2 beds once you find out which hotel you are staying at, the hotel may say no or charge more.)

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Ideally I want two beds, would it work better if I used hotwire to ask for two beds?? If I have to share a bed, I'd want at least a queen size, but I don't think all hotels can guarantee that size when I use priceline??? I'm pretty open to any hotel, but my priority would be in finding one in a the northern michigan ave area...

I'm willing to go for cheaper hotels in "farther" locations like the congress plaza or inn of chicago as long as I get a REALLY good deal, like <$100 (or is that asking for too much this time of year?)

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

To ensure two beds you could use HOTWIRE and search for triple/quad occupancy, and this should give you separate sleeping accommodations, but the 2nd 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.

However, searching HOTWIRE for your dates for 2adults/2children shows everything at the 4* level above your budget, so based upno current rates you'll either need to increase your budget, lower your star rating, or accept the risk of only one bed.
