Hi,

Just discovered this site. Seems super helpful so I hope you can help me out...

I've used Priceline in the past with great luck, but it seems I'm having a harder time this time around.

Coming to Manhattan for the nights of May 19th and 20th. 2 couples. (4 people)

We are happy to share a room all together to keep costs down... but it seems that is difficult given the small sizes of NY hotel rooms. Is it possible for 4 people to share a room in NYC?

We are ideally looking for TS, MTW, CPS.. but we can stray a bit if it gets us a great deal.

I think 3.5* will be best for us, but we can even go down to 3* if the hotel is well-reviewed.

We can also split night over 2 hotels if you think that would be helpful..

Budget is whatever it needs to be...

How do you recommend we proceed?

Thanks so much!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Sharing any prior PRICELINE wins (as separate threads) would be greatly appreciated.

In terms of this stay, what would be your desired budget per night for this stay so that we can have a better idea of what to recommend in terms of what's available.

HOTWIRE would be a better choice if you decide to have everyone in one room, as you can indicate the amount of people in the room and get some manner of bedding (2 or 1 + sofa, etc) for the entire party.

"but we can even go down to 3* if the hotel is well-reviewed."

There's no way to guarantee that when using PRICELINE; if using HOTWIRE, listings often show the tripadvisor rating, which gives on an idea of reviews.

I wouldn't recommend splitting the stay with only two nights - this is generally recommended over longer (5-7+ days) stays, and primarily if one part of a longer stay is noticeably busier/more expensive than the other.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply and the info.

Our budget is 180 per night assuming we'll need to get separate rooms.

As for my previous experience with Priceline, I'll see if I can dig up those deals and post them to help out others.

Thanks!

Few things to cover in order to move forward...

We are ideally looking for TS, MTW, CPS.

At the 3.5* level the CPS zone contains the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms... would this be acceptable?

If you're willing to stretch your budget a bit i think the best value for these dates may be in the MTE zone... a 4* hotel for $210/nite (give or take a few dollars). If you'd prefer to first try for something at the 3.5* at $180 or under, let us know if we should include CPS in the bidding or not and we'll take it from there.

Hi and thanks again for your help!

Yes I would like to include the CPS area hotels at the lower price point.

The super-small rooms don't bother me.

Thank you very much!

Through Expedia, I found the Roosevelt Hotel with a room that can hold 4 people, that will come to $320 per night. I think that might be my best bet, as that will be $160 per couple per night. I don't think I can beat the on Priceline or Hotwire? What do you think?

Thanks again!

The rate at the Roosevelt could be tough to beat. If you want to give PRICELINE a try for 2 rooms at the 3.5* level in the TS, MTW, CPS zones up to $180/nite, you could try as follows:

Hi everyone. In the end, we decided to go with the Roosevelt. It seemed to be the best deal we were able to find. Still so expensive! But the hotel was beautiful and our room as recently renovated!
