sqroot3 Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 I have previously successfully bid on priceline with the help of this board, but my experience is primarily limited to weekend stays.I am looking for a 5* hotel on the strip for the dates listed--5/10 to 5/12/12. Asking price is between $200-250 for simply booking a hotel through a generic hotel reservation website. What do you recommend for my starting bid? I do realize that with the formula starting bid = asking price - ($5 x rebids), I would be looking at $140-190 for my starting bid. Do you agree? Thanks as always!
thereuare Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 It's always difficult to predict a Vegas win when the dates include both inexpensive (midweek) and expensive (weekend) dates, but i'd guess that ~$165-$180 is likely the right ballpark. With time on your side i would bid as follows:When bidding 5* in Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. sqroot3 Posted May 3, 2012 Author Report Posted May 3, 2012 Which hotel(s) fall in the 5* category in priceline's "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South" and "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North"?The "Las Vegas Strip South" area, still mentioned on the priceline Las Vegas hotel list, has apparently disappeared! Does that mean that the new area "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South" now includes the 5* hotels Aria, Cosmopolitan, and Vdara? The map of "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North" seems to encompass Trump only. Is Trump the only 5* hotel in "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North"? I seem to remember this being the case from my previous bidding experiences, but wanted to ask explicitly.Thank you again!
thereuare Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 Strip South = Strip South VicinityStrip North = the 'main' part of the strip from Stratosphere/Circus Circus to mid-Strip approximately near Imperial PalaceStrip North Vicinity = the area surrounding the Trump and is slightly off-stripPlease use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
