Lilith Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Hello. First of all, thank you for great board.Me and my friend visiting NY in May, and I am using this place for a help with booking. We need one night in hotel near Chinatown and then three nights in Manhattan.I was able to book one night in Marriott New York Downtown for 150 dollars.I used strategy of rebidding from your board, and started from 120 dollars. At one point, I was offered to change my bid to 173 dollars, but rejected it.And during next bid ended up with this hotel.I am happy, because we actually booked another place for our stay - and it's pretty much hostel with amazing price of 190 dollars per night without taxes. But I was upset at first, cause after winning this bid, priceline told me this hotel offers room for 149 dollars, so I actually paid more. But I have no idea, cause I certainly don't see prices like that on booking.com. Actually, cheapest offers for this area on booking are above 200 dollars. So I am kind of surprised by this information.Anyway, sorry for this long post. I need to book another stay for three nights, and I want to write about it as well - should I start new topic for next bidding or it's fine to use this one?

Lilith Posted May 2, 2012 Author Report Posted May 2, 2012 Thank you. May I ask for advice? I understand I should discuss all details with hotel, not priceline - but when is better time to do it? Should I write them in advance or just discuss all the details during check-in?
thereuare Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 I would call the hotel (try a time when you think a hotel's front desk might not be busy... and make your requests known. If they state that they can't guarantee anything just ask them if they'll make a note on the reservation. Then at check-in you can re-state your preferences or mention "... i think there should be a note in the system that we had wanted (room/bed type here), anything that you can do to honor that request would be appreciated".
