kinger14 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Hello - I'm traveling to New York this weekend 5/5/12 (unfortunately given really short notice) and would like to stay preferably in a 4* or 3.5* hotel and would not like to spend more than $180 if possible. The areas we would like to stick to from a Priceline Perspective are: Central Park SouthMidtown EastMidtown WestTimes SquareUpper East SideUpper West SideIs this realistic this late in the game? If so I would really appreciate a bidding strategy. Thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is this only for a one nite stay, 5/5? If so, your $180 may fall a bit short, but i do think you would at least improve your chances if you also included the ESB zone in the mix... would this zone be acceptable as well? While at current rates your budget may be a bit of a stretch at either star level, are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip? Also, when bidding 3.5* in the CPS note that the Hudson Hotel is in this zone. While well located it does have extremely small rooms, and this may be acceptable if only a one/two nite stay, but it's something that you should at least be aware of.Lastly, the UES doesn't not contain 3.5* or 4* hotels, are you familiar with re-bidding? If not, see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free (strongly recommended) to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board. (at the 4* level in NYC you have SEVEN re-bid zones... at the 3.5* level you have SIX re-bid zones)Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kinger14 Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 Yes this is only for the one night. The ESB zone would also be acceptable, I actually meant to include that instead of the UES zone as you mentioned above since it doesn't contain any 3.5* or 4* hotels. The Hudson Hotel while small would be a good location so I think we would roll the dice on getting it for the one night. I read the tutorial on rebidding and I think I have the hang of it. Thanks for all your help!

kinger14 Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 My goal would be the least expensive 3.5* or 4* hotel.
thereuare Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Since you'll be bidding the 3.5* level first this raise two more questions/issues...Some hotels at 3.5* and under in the MTE zone can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable? Also, when bidding 3.5* the MSG zone becomes open for bidding... do you want to include this zone in your bidding as well? Please confirm and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kinger14 Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 Both of these would be acceptable to us. Thanks.
