pspBB Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 How much should I expect to pay/night? Can I get something < $100 if possible?
AaronJB Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 While the Spring season is busy/expensive, I actually think for these particular dates you may be able to get something around $100 (although probably not vastly less than that.) Would the River North-NMA area or Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park area (or both) be acceptable at the 4* level?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
pspBB Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 I am now rethinking whether to stay downtown or simply near ORD. A 4.5* ORD South hotel (which I IDed as Intercontinental) was $80/night. However, when I called the hotel they said they have a $22/night parking charge! Ouch! Its not mentioned anywhere on Hotwire. Very sneaky!

AaronJB Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 If you are staying outside the city, I often recommend the North 'burbs, which are very nice, have a variety of restaurants/shopping and would require taking the Metra train in rather than the CTA train. Metra is more expensive and does not run as often, but is a much nicer ride, especially with the longer ride from an outlying area. The majority of hotels in the North burbs also offer free parking. I'm guessing you could get a 3.5* in the Northern burbs for $40-50. Let us know your thoughts and we would be happy to offer further suggestions.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
pspBB Posted August 22, 2012 Author Report Posted August 22, 2012 I ended up skipping the downtown idea and getting a hotel near the airport: Hyatt Place for $70/night. Turned out to be a good dealw/free parking, free hot breakfast, free internet, etc.
AaronJB Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 Did you use PRICELINE/HOTWIRE? What was the star rating of the property?Hope you enjoyed your stay.
pspBB Posted August 26, 2012 Author Report Posted August 26, 2012 Got the deal thru a friend. Didn't use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE.
