Hello all and thanks for looking and assisting, we're looking to spend a long weekend on the Vegas strip south and would love to get a 5*. We need two rooms for two couples 2 aug - 6 aug 2012. I checked on Hotwire and they show a 4* for that time frame for $70, what do you think the likelihood is we can get a 5* for $110? Thanks again in advance.

This is a slow period in Vegas - in terms of bidding for 5* South, I'd start at $70 and move up by $5's using re-bidding. I definitely think it's likely that you should be able to get a 5* in the Strip South zone under $110, given the rates that I'm seeing. Please let us know if you have any questions before bidding.

Thanks for the reply

Last night I started my bid at $70 and did rebids up to $100 with no luck. Do you think I've started searching too early or the bid is just to low? I plan to go up to $110

Your $100 bid is too low at this point in time. In Vegas there is a significant difference in the number of 5* hotels we see won at $100 and under vs. 'just over' $100.

I'd bid up to your $110 limit, if that is rejected then another $10 up to $120 should likely be enough (unless 2 rooms becomes problematic, it usually doesn't, but occasionally can be a problem at the 5* level in this zone).

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for all the help, I had my gameplan all mapped out but I didn't get to it on this second go round my first bid of $105 was excepted, I started there because my last bid yesterday of $100 was declined. I haven't seen a lot of information on the Vdara here but trip advisor seems to have pretty good reviews. I was hoping for the Aria only because another couple we're meeting are staying there so would've liked to be in the same location but hey $105 sounds good to me they booked through Aria. Thanks again for the help we're looking forward to the trip we've never been to Vegas.

Congratulations on your success!

Although not the same hotel your friends are staying in, this should still work out just fine as the two hotels are literally 5 minute walk from each other... you don't even need to go outside to get between the two.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
