jmfergus Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 Hello!New to betterbidding and i'm finding all this really helpful! I'm trying to get a 3.5-4* hotel in San Fran USE. I've tried for a 4* with rebids ranging from $115-$150 with no luck. Lowered my star level to 3.5 and bid up to $130 with no luck either. Am I bidding too early for a late June stay? Any suggestions? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)It's definitely not too early for June - unfortunately the Summer season in San Fran can be busy and expensive at times. What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jmfergus Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 My budget is basically as cheap as possible without going below a 3 star. I'll probably just need to try again at a lower star. I really didn't want to spend more than $150. Looks like I might need to spend that much for a 3 star. I'm using your links every time though :o)Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Is USE the only acceptable zone or are other nearby zones acceptable as well? (USW, Nob Hill, Financial, etc?) I'm not sure adding this other zones will help, but if these too are acceptable, it couldn't hurt as it gives more hotels the ability to accept your bid, as well as gives you more bidding opportuntiies.I think you do have a chance at a 3.5* at your $150 maximum bid... if you'd like help with a bidding strategy let us know if you want to stick with only USE or include other zones, and if you're willing to bid up to $150 for a 3.5* at this point in time. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Good luck and keep us updated on your progress and/or if we can be of further help. jmfergus Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 Hi!I am willing to stay in USW too. I tried up to $165 for a 4 star in USE & USW with no luck. I went up to $155 for a 3.5 star in these areas with no luck either. Might have to go down to a 3 star at this point if I want these areas and to stay within my budget. $165 was pushing it for me and I was only really to do that for a 4 star. Maybe i'll try another day! Thanks for your help.
jmfergus Posted April 30, 2012 Author Report Posted April 30, 2012 Just found out why it's so expensive on this weekend! They have a huge Gay Pride Festival that weekend in San Fran. I tried $165 for a 3.5* with no luck too! I'll keep trying :o)

jmfergus Posted April 30, 2012 Author Report Posted April 30, 2012 Posted my win on this forum today also but thought i'd update it here too. I ended up getting Orchard Garden Hotel in USE (3.5*) for $170. Wouldn't expect to find anything much cheaper for this weekend due to it being the start of summer and with the event happening. Used PRICELINE links on this website! Thanks!
