Priceline Hotel: NYC for $200 in May

My son and I will visit NYC May 10 for 2 days/nights. We need a secure parking place. I assume that will be about $60/day extra and that a 4 star hotel will have this? We will want double beds. Will we be able to get these easily once I am successful? I have bid $190/night on P/L for 4 stars in CPS,TD and MSG without success. I am willing to go to $250, but it would be nice to get a better deal. Your advice?

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Parking is generally very expensive in NYC at NYC properties, and $60 is not unheard of, although some properties may be slightly more/slightly less. 2 beds, however, is definitely very difficult in NYC, as the city's hotel rooms are often smaller-than-average, with some rooms that likely wouldn't fit a rollaway, even at higher star levels. What zones would be acceptable - CPS, TS and MSG only?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I think the beds issue makes P/L a non-starter. Am I right to think Hotwire will be the same?

We will be driving up from Florida, and continuing on to Canada. Perhaps staying in NJ, parking in city, then driving North is better. Where could we get a 4 star with 2 beds in NJ? Should we use P/L?

With HOTWIRE you can search for quad occupancy which should ensure separate sleeping accommodations in the room, but the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc. Would this be acceptable?

While getting two beds in the room can be easier in the areas surrounding Manhattan than directly in it, there's just no way to guarantee it other than the quad occupancy scenario above.

I got a suite at Springhill Suites for $144 near Newark airport. We'll drive into NYC the next morning, park somewhere (?) and spend the day in the city.

This made the most sense in our situation. I want to thank you for all of your advice, especially regarding room sizes!

Glad to see you found something that will work for your needs and budget.

Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming which service it is that you used for this purchase (PRICELINE or HOTWIRE) and include the star rating, city, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite and dates of your stay (and if hotwire was use the amenities shown before your purchase). You can still view all of this information by going to PRICELINE and clicking the MY PROFILE >> MY TRIPS link near the top right of their home page OR if HOTWIRE was used thru the MY ACCOUNT link at the top right of their home page.
