Bjamesphotos Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Coming in on redeye flight 5/6. Not familiar with Boston but do know we want to be close to the T for site seeing. Need to get the best possible hotel in the $90-$100 range. Any suggestions as to zones and bidding strategy
thereuare Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! We can certainly help you try, but i suspect your budget will not be enough for these dates. There are a LOT of universities and colleges in the area and this is the beginning of graduation season (as well as other possible events/conventions taking place in the area) and it causes a substantial spike in hotel rates. What is the best rate you're able to find thru traditional booking channels for this trip (try MAPS and HOTELS.com or any other sources you wish)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Bjamesphotos Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 Bidding strategy Boston 5/6-5/10So tried almost every day for a week now to book a 3 to 3.5 in Boston using rebid areas and prices ranging from $85 to $135 and have had no luck at all. I am sticking to Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Harbor Front, Convention Center, Back Bay, and Quincy Market for our first time visit to Boston. Any suggestions?

Bjamesphotos Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 I didnt get any assistance with the original post thus I've created a new one. I am using the links as directed. I am also using rebid zones. While there may be a convention or two none of the area college graduations occur during this time period. I went so far this morning as to bid all the way up to $175 for a 3/3.5/4 in Capmbridge, Aquarium, Financial, Waterfront, Theatre, Hill. Copley, and so on.

Bjamesphotos Posted April 26, 2012 Author Report Posted April 26, 2012 Im not sure what events there are but I do see a spike in rates for Tuesday & Wednesday. I am at the poin t now where I just want a hotel near a T stop that will get me into the tourist areas. We're not "scared" travelers so lower star ratings dont matter as much. Any suggestions on specific areas outside of downtown? I see the Shearton 4 Points a lot and the Best Western TLC but dont know the public transit well enough to pull the trigger.

Bjamesphotos Posted April 27, 2012 Author Report Posted April 27, 2012 If I bid on say the first 3 days of our trip am I guaranteed the option for extra nights? I could move hotels if necessary but would rather not if I can help it.
Bjamesphotos Posted April 27, 2012 Author Report Posted April 27, 2012 After a week of bidding I split my stay and got the first 3 days here. Now I'll work on the last 2 days.
