Then I noticed a 4* on Hotwire for $118 in the Dupont Circle zone for 7/4-7. It looked inviting, and the amenities matched either the Hotel Palomar or Donovan House. I checked the lists and saw that the Palomar is on Hotwire and Priceline, but the Donovan is only on Hotwire. Also, I noticed that there were no "traveler rating" percentages or Tripadvisor rankings on the listing. The Palomar always has "100% traveler rating" posted prominently on Hotwire, so I deduced that it had to be the Donovan. Also, the Donovan House was recently taken over by Kimpton, so they only have a few reviews on Tripadvisor. Unfortunately, I'm traveling with a female colleague and the Donovan doesn't have double beds.I bid on Priceline for Dupont Circle 4* up to $125 + $5 PL cash, and then $115 for 4* Dupont, White House, and Convention Center. Nada...not even a counteroffer. I tried lowering to 3.5* in Dupont @ $80, hoping for the Marriott Wardman Park. Nope. Finally, I went with $120 for 4* Dupont/WH/Convention Center and got the Grand Hyatt.I'm OK with it. I've stayed at the Grand Hyatt before and it's just so-so. Clean, safe, big, totally corporate, and absolutely charmless. But there it is.Used the PRICELINE link.
