evapod Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 I need some help identifying the following hotel on Hotwire.Evanston - Skokie - Niles area hotel5/2 - 5/3$62/night ($143 other sites)Amenities:Free ParkingFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Laundry Facilities (self-service)Tennis NearbyTrip Advisor Rating: 3/5Thanks!
AaronJB Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 My guess would be the Holiday Inn Skokie.Do you need to be near Skokie/Evanston, or would being further North be ok? The Holiday Inn is closer to downtown and not far from the Skokie Swift "L" station, so in terms of accessibility to downtown, it might work out okay for a night (although it does continue to not get good reviews, despite a renovation.) If you are looking to be in the burbs only and are looking for a nicer hotel, I'd try looking further North - using PRICELINE in the Deerfield area, for example.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
evapod Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 I'd prefer to be in the suburbs, since we'll be driving in and parking is so expensive downtown. On the other hand, we don't want to be stuck too far out in the suburbs, so that's why I was looking in the Evanston/Skokie area. What area would Deerfield be in on PRICELINE / HOTWIRE?
AaronJB Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 On HOTWIRE, Deerfield is part of the Northbrook-Glenview-Mt Prospect zone. On PRICELINE, the next zone North of the Skokie-Niles-Evanston zone is the North Shore zone, then just North of that is Deerfield. While the Marriott Suites in Deerfield has gotten a couple of mixed reviews lately, I've stayed there a few times and have found it to be a very nice property. The Marriott Suites, Hyatt (which has larger rooms) and Embassy Suites are the known 3.5's in the Deerfield PRICELINE zone, and are - I think - very nice. The Metra trains run from this area to downtown - they are nicer than CTA trains, but run less often and are more expensive. It's about 40-50 minutes to downtown from this area on the Metra, but the stations are not far from the hotels. On HOTWIRE, where Northbrook and Glenview are lumped into the same zone, those properties are also not far from Metra stations. The Holiday Inn is good from a location standpoint in terms of getting downtown, just suggesting further North options in terms of nicer hotels (but further out.)Additionally, if you are interested in the Holiday Inn due to the location, I'd suggest seeing if you could get it at least a little lower via PRICELINE. ($45-55).Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
