deallover Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Hi,I need a room for one night July 20th near John Wayne Airport (SNA).I am looking at the winning bids in the area but I am not sure which area I need to concentrate to be near the airport. My flight is at 7am on 21st so I don't want to drive a lot, early in the morning to the airport.Which zones should I use if I want to use PL?Plz help.Thanks.Neil

thereuare Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Enter Orange County, CA as the city and then click on the shaded region of Costa Mesa-Irvine... that appears to include the airport, although the zone is somewhat larger than just the airport area. Double-check to make sure this zone satisifies your needs. If you need help with a bidding strategy let us know if this is the correct (and only zone) as well as your star rating and maximum bid preferences and we'll try to help. deallover Posted July 14, 2005 Author Report Posted July 14, 2005 Hi,Yes I figured that costa Mesa - Irvine area is the one I want.Based on that I did the bidding as you can see in my previous post to this thread. No luck for 4* upto $65.Any suggestion? I am willing to go upto $80 for 4* but would like to get something around $65.Thanks.
thereuare Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 I looked at two hotels in the area, one is sold-out and the other has rates which are higher than usual, which is why your bids up to $65 have been rejected. rc408 Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 I live in the area. Thereuare is correct, the Costa Mesa-Irvine area is what you want for easy John Wayne Airport access. IMO- The other areas are close if you will be driving, stick to Costa Mesa-Irvine if you're taking a taxi or shuttle.
Mountain Bidder Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I tried to get a room near Wayne Airport for earlier this week and even $80 bids for 3* hotels were turned down. A lot of people go to Orange County this time of year and I imagine hotels are slow to turn inventory over to Priceline. You could continue to bid, but I would lower your sights considerably. And I would book a back-up right now.
deallover Posted July 19, 2005 Author Report Posted July 19, 2005 I just retired my request.First bid of $66 is accepted for July 20th for one night.I could have started lower but I am happy with this price. It is Hilton Casta Mesa. Thanks for all who replied to me.
thereuare Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Congratulations on your win... looks like your first round of bids only missed by $1! :) Glad to see you were successful in your pursuit for this stay and ultimately received what appears to be a great deal.I assume this is still 4* rated? There is a recent HOTEL REVIEW of this property which states that some of the rooms are renovated while others are not... so be sure to make your preference known at check-in :) Enjoy your stay.
