This was a surprise to me.

I was trying to get the Embassy Suites or the Marriott Downtown.

I started with a $70 bid for 3* Downtown rejected

added Miramar $75 rejected

added Hollywood $80 accepted at the Holiday Inn Hollywood Beach.

Heck, I could have booked this without Priceline for $91.59.

I guess, that's the way it goes sometimes :)

Thank you for posting your win.

I think the problem above is that you added a 'live' zone late in your bidding sequence.... were you aware that Hollywood was not a re-bid zone?

You may want to give PRICELINE RE-BIDDING a read and feel free to ask any questions that you may have; as well as ask for a bidding strategy before you bid for your next stay.

Enjoy your stay.

I was not aware that the Hollywood area had a 3* hotel. When I bid yesterday I had the site's priceline hotel list open in a separate window and it did not have any 3* hotels in the Hollywood area. That's why I added Mirimar first and then Hollywood, because neither had 3* hotels. It's OK. Now everyone will know that the Hollywood area has a 3* hotel.

From the top of the hotel list:

DO NOT USE THIS LIST to determine what areas to add when attempting to bid again within the 24 hour window (CLICK HERE for information on how to add cities in order to bid again).

If you click the above link the first post details the correct way to go about finding out what the highest star rating within each zone is... and also re-iterates not to use the hotel lists to determine what star ratings are offered in each zone.

I know that I didn't follow all of your guidelines. I have placed and won bids following your strategies a couple of times. (I posted my previous results). It is always a risk with Priceline and I understand that. The reason I added Hollywood is because I wouldn't have been upset if I got the Westin Resort. :) I know that there is no way for you or anyone to know all of the possible hotels in a particular area and the list gets compiled from people who get bids accepted and report the results to you. I will always have the luxury of knowing that because of my bid the 3*Holiday Inn in Hollywood, FL was added to your list. :o I will continue to use Priceline and will also use your site. The difference is, next time I will ask for a bidding strategy from you first. :)

... and we'll be happy to help. :)

I think the point though (not just for you but for others that are following along) is that by using the proper technique you can know the highest rated star level in a zone even if there are no hotels reported in that area.
