amorgan Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Hello,Looking to get 2 rooms in a 3 star hotel in the following areas (listed in order of preference):Mid Town EastCentral Park SEmpire StateMid Town WestSaturday June 16 to Tues June 19th.I initially did $110 in all areas, and then went back and started with MTE at $150 and added each area up to $180 with $10 increases and didn't get any hits. Any suggestions? I am hoping to stay under $180 if possible but would spend up to $200/night (for each room) if I absolutely have to since our flight is already booked. Thanks,
AaronJB Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Just to confirm, did you go up to $180 at the 3* level in all four zones?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
amorgan Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 Initially I was trying to do the process that gets you the extra bids and totally messed up so I only went up to like $170 for all four locations. But a friend of mine went in under her account and did all four up to $180 and it told her no. I think I need to wait a few days and start over..can you recommend what price I should start and what bidding steps I should take? This is too much math for me :)
AaronJB Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 Definitely be careful when rebidding and let us know if you have questions. In terms of Times Square, when searching for 2 adults on these dates, I'm seeing a 3.5* in TS-Theater District w/Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Internet, Free Internet for $187. This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but my guess is that it may be the Paramount (which is a 3* on PRICELINE.)There's also a 3* Suite in Midtown Central for $187 on HOTWIRE. That property has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but does get good reviews (there is a 4/5 tripadvisor rating on the detail page.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 Note that when bidding 3.5* and under in the MTE zone that some hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, and that in the CPS is the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms... are both of these acceptable? As well, is there a reason you're specifically avoiding the TS and/or MSG zones as these typically work out fine for the average user. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please confirm the above zones you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. I stopped at $170 as i think you can get something like the Ramada New Yorker at $170 or less, so if the above is rejected, i thought i'd see if you wanted to puruse the MSG zone (or find out why you have no interest in this zone) before bidding higher. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. amorgan Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 I did end up adding MSG and did get the Ramada Plaza for $180/night. I probably overpaid as I added the MSG and increased my price at the same time when I should have just added the zone. OH well..I was running late for work and not paying attention. Thanks for your help!
