drrybo Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 I'm fairly new to this site but not all that new to how priceline works, however I'm having a deuce of a time getting a room in NYC for June 12-19. My girlfriend and I are looking for no less than 3 star hotel and have looked at all the areas around the city. We've added upper east and west, midtown east and west, times square, esb, central park, chelsea, msg, soho and the financial district. Our max bid is 150. Any suggestions? I realized I posted this in the wrong section a moment ago. So I re post this here in the right area, I beg for your forgiveness and appreciate any help.
thereuare Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! This is the end of peak season for NYC and rates don't begin to really drop until a few weeks after your stay. So not only is your budget on the low ned for this time of year, but it can also be difficult to get a full one week stay at the same hotel since any hotel that accepts your offer would need to be offering deeply discounted inventory for the entire length of your trip. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. drrybo Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 No. After conferring with my GF splitting is NOT an option. One additional question... Are the hotels priceline offers going to have the possibility of a shared bathroom? If there is a firm NO then we could add star levels.
thereuare Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 As was recently asked and followed-up with a response from PRICELINEThis thread had a similar Priceline question and the user followed-up with PRICELINE's reply:Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. We understand that you would like to submit requests for hotel rooms in different cities inthe US and would like to know if the hotels booked through the Name YourOwn Price option provide private bathrooms. Our customers are guaranteed standard rooms that do feature private baths. Please be assured that all rooms will have a private bath.We thank you for the opportunity to assist you and hope you find this information helpful. So private baths should exist at all star levels (at least in the US).If you have already bid up to your limit, and SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID is not an option, do you prefer to wait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks ahead OR consider an alternate zone that you have not yet bid, such as Downtown, which is not as convenient as the midtown locations, but certainly do-able, and often less expensive than their midtown counterparts? I wouldn't necessarily recommend lowering your star level to 2.5* or less (at least not at this time with 6+ weeks to go before your trip). While there are some lower rated properties which may meet your needs, there are others which may not, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you can't choose which type it is that you will get ;)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. drrybo Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 Thanks for your help. We have thrown out bids at 3 start at all the areas in NYC including the financial district. About the only area we haven't done is Harlem. And we have started using the icons on this page for our PRICELINE attempts.
thereuare Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Downtown-Soho-Financial District zone with:Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, LaundryBest guess is that this is either the Club Quarters World Trade or the World Center hotel... could you stretch your budget the extra $8/nite and would this this work for your needs? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. drrybo Posted April 24, 2012 Author Report Posted April 24, 2012 Sounds great... but another room was booked without my knowledge. Thanks for the information though, a friend of mine is heading that way around the same time I will pass this along.
