Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC Airports (Brooklyn) Sheraton Brooklyn New York Hotel

Hello,

I am looking for a hotel in NYC this coming weekend, for two nights (check-in Friday 27 APR, check-out Sunday 29 APR). For various reasons, we are pretty set on staying in Brooklyn. I do understand that this might limit my ability to bid freely on priceline. What I am most interested in, however, is a successful, high-value bid. So long as I am not pushing well over $200, I would consider a four star, but I would be just as happy with a cheap-ish 2.5 star hotel (cheap being relative, of course, in NYC in the spring).

Do you have any advice about different strategies I might pursue? I have used priceline in the past (with good success), but only at times when I was quite flexible. This is a bit different, of course, and NYC is its own special case, it seems. I would definitely appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

I think you may very well be at $200+ for this, but you can give this a try:

At the 4* level in NYC you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 4* Brooklyn...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* Brooklyn and re-bid zone6...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* Brooklyn and re-bid zone7...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* Brooklyn and re-bid zone6 and re-bid zone7...

Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $215

You can stop at whatever amount you'd like, but since at current rates i suspect at the moment it will take more than $200, i continued on to use up the remaining re-bidding opportunities you had.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks very much for the help. I ended up bidding a little higher than I would have planned, but it is a busy time of year. We are at the Sheraton Brooklyn for $220, which we made more affordable by booking the Friday night in the suburbs ($60 Hyatt Morristown) -- the friends we are meeting in the city won't be there until Saturday morning anyways. Worked out well enough in the end, and I definitely appreciate the advice. After all that, I think I now completely understand the re-bidding process. Cheers!

Congratulations on your success!

While more than you originally intended, glad to see you found something that works well for your plans.

Can you please add this win to the board as a NEW TOPIC so that others will be aware of the win when searching the topic titles on the board, the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins, and Priceline Maps.

Not too far from the Hyatt is a pretty good bar called "The Office" with better than average 'pub grub' if you're looking for a place to spend some time on Friday nite.

Thank you for sharing your win(s) with the board.
