Looking to book for 4 days, June 19-23. Am I too early to get a good deal at this point ?

Also, that time of year, what should I expect to pay for a 5 star north strip or a 5 star south strip (hoping to get Aria) ?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

As long as your dates are firm it's never too early to bid, as long as you make sure you don't overbid... for a further discussion see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.

Rates for these dates are not high and i suspect something ~$100 or so should be successful for a 5* property. If you're ready to bid now, let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Also, since your preferred hotel is in the Strip South zone, did you want to bid that zone first up to your limit before adding Strip North... or is your goal the least expensive 5* or better in either for this trip?

Used the link and tried to bid on 5 star strip north.

Bid $90, rejected

added zone 11, bid $100. rejected

added zone 12 bid $105, rejected

added zone 14, bid $110, rejected

added Henderson, $115 bid, rejected

I assume this time of year the hotels were getting much cheaper. Perhaps I should wait a little. At this price ($115) it is only $120 cheaper, total, for 4 nights, vs the package deal I was going to book online.

Didn't add south strip as I decided that I would prefer the north strip, mainly because I really only want the Aria in the south strip (don't want the Cosmo) so I figured booking North was safer as I like all available 5* in that zone. . That may change going forward.

FYI, advertised prices from hotel websites:

Strip North (from hotel websites)

Palazzo June 19-23, avg $184 per night

Venetian June 19-23 avg $184 per night

Wynn June 19-23 avg $204 per night

Strip South

Aria June19-23 avg $154 per night

Vdara June 19-23 $131.50 avg per night

Cosmopolitan June19-23 $230 avg per night

When bidding for my 5* North Strip hotel for June 18-23, I got this message...I have never seen this before:

"Try Again Right Now

We searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we can't accept your offer of $120 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number ###-###-###-##. If you are willing to raise your price by $23 to $143 per room, per night, you can try the same request again right now.

Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested "

Is this a hint telling me that the going price for 5* north strip hotels are $143 per night for this time period ?

No, it is a hint that you will be successful somewhere between $121 and $143.

People who are short on time report trying 1/2 the distance plus $1 with good success. $131 or $132.

On the other hand, there are reports where just an extra dollar ($121 in your case) wins the bid. You've got almost 2 months, and are bidding for 5 days. Just gradually incrementing your bid can be a good tactic.

The message is fairly common, but random. You might just not have run into it before.

At the Las Vegas 5* level there are lots of free re-bids. If you aren't familiar with this approach, there is good discussion up in the FAQs. If you still have questions, do post back.
