scully Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 I'm looking to book two hotel rooms in Nashville, in the downtown area, for 4/29 and 5/1, for two nights. I don't want to pay more than $55 a night. I started bidding at $35 for a four star hotel and added in other star levels until I reached 2.5 stars. I then stopped bidding. What approach should I use to book this hotel? I'm going for a convention so I need to stay close to the convention area downtown and I can't risk booking farther from that area so I want to make sure, if I choose rebid zones, that they don't have the star level I might use as a rebid option. Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 ...for 4/29 and 5/1, for two nights.Do you mean 2nites, 4/29-5/1... or do you need one nite 4/29 and then another nite 5/1?I don't want to pay more than $55 a night. I started bidding at $35 for a four star hotel and added in other star levels until I reached 2.5 stars. I then stopped bidding. Were you looking to bid up to your limit for a 4*, then if rejected up to your limit for a 3.5*, and so-on... OR are you looking for the least expensive hotel at a minimum star rating of 'x'? (and if the latter let us know what star rating 'x' is)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. scully Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 sorry, I meant the nights of 4/29 and 4/30, leaving on 5/1. so two nights in a row for two rooms.I'm looking for the least expensive room at a minimum star rating of 2.5.Thanks so much!
thereuare Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 When bidding 2.5* in Nashville you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 2.5* Downtown...Bid $38, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $40, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 2.5* Downtown and re-bid zone2...Bid $43, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $45, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 2.5* Downtown and re-bid zone3...Bid $48, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 2.5* Downtown and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $55Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. scully Posted April 19, 2012 Author Report Posted April 19, 2012 Thanks. How would you suggest doing the rebid zones if I opt for a minimum star level of 3, instead? Thanks again.
thereuare Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 The same strategy will work if you change the star rating to 3*. If that is rejected and you wanted to then try for a 2.5*, you could close the browser and use a link on the board to re-access PRICELINE, and start over at the 2.5* level. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck. scully Posted April 20, 2012 Author Report Posted April 20, 2012 Booked this hotel. Started at $35 and worked my way up. Bid $35, then $40, then $43, then $46, then jumped to $55 and bid was accepted.
