Priceline Hotel: Three day weekend trip June 1-4 in Manhatten: Help!

I'm heading to Manhatten for a long weekend with my mom. We'd like to stay in the Times Square area in a 3.5 star hotel or better. What is the best rate you think I can get on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, and at what rate should I start bidding? Thanks!!!

My first suggestion would be to consider including other midtown areas, not just Times Square, as explained in this Hotels Near Times Square thread. However, ultimately it's your trip and you know what your needs/plans are for this trip better than we do.

I'd start lower, but my guess is that you may be looking at close to ~$200 or more for a 3.5* in the Times Square zone for these dates.

What is your maximum bid for this trip? Do you want to stick with only Times Square?

Thanks! I am going to try other midtown areas as well such as Soho, Midtown East and Midtown West. I'm just wondering what is unrealistic to bid, as I don't want to spend hours on the computer making low bids that will never be taken. Thanks!

NOTE: that some hotels at the 3.5* level and under in MTE can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable?

At the moment I'd guess you're likely looking at ~$170-$200 for a 3.5* hotel for these dates... if this is beyond your budget i'll point out that HOTWIRE has a 3.5* property in the Downtown zone if this is of any interest.

If you let us know your maximum bid and confirm your acceptable zones we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.
