partyof6 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Help!Have a chance to pitch a deal to Macy's Herald Square. Here's the details: April 30-May 5. Giving my absolute dream sitch: 3.5 star and above and within reasonable walking and safe distance at max 225.00/night.Yes I read your how-to but seriously couldn't get it into my brain. Would love a step by step way to do this.Any help is appreciated.
thereuare Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 Giving my absolute dream sitch: 3.5 star and above and within reasonable walking and safe distance at max 225.00/night.Rates are high for these dates, have they have been for most of the month of April and May, and believe it or not, $225 will hardly be an 'easy win' for these dates. It's difficult to tell from your post above if your 'absolute dream sitch' criteria is must have or wants... do you NEED to be walkable to Macy's or if you're a short subway/cab ride away would that be acceptable? Requiring to be within walking distance is going to make this even tougher, but you can try that first if you'd like and then add other zones if that is rejected (if so, if you look at the zone boundaries on PRICELINE (enter 'New York City' in the search box on the top right corner of the board) which zone(s) are acceptable? How flexible are you in regards to star rating and/or price? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. partyof6 Posted April 20, 2012 Author Report Posted April 20, 2012 What I asked for was the ideal/wants!but for sure at least 3starI can totally walk to Macy's.Subway, perhaps.I've tried following the path of past winners, but have been unsuccessful even after opening a new browser.Would kindly ask for a step by step approach.Thank you
thereuare Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 Before we can suggest a strategy to follow we need to know what criteria to include in a strategy, and for us to do that you need to first decide what you are/aren't willing to accept from this stay.Of course you'll take a hotel that is walkable to Macy's, but you need to determine if you're willing to take a subway/taxi to Macy's, as this will let us know which zone(s) we can include i a bidding strategy. 'Perhaps' doesn't tell us if it's acceptable to include zones which are not walkable in a bidding strategy or not.If you look at the PRICELINE map and zoom in on the area, Macy's is near the meeting point of Chelsea, ESB and MSG... are all three of these zones acceptable? If you were to end up at the southern most point of the Chelsea zone you'd be ~20 blocks from Macy's (about a mile)... would this be acceptable to walk (or would you then be willing to take a taxi/subway??). There are points in ESB and MSG that would leave you about a 15 minute walk away, is this acceptable?Assuming you're willing to go beyond these three zones in hopes of getting the best price (since including more zones gives more hotels the chance to accept your bid) are you willing to accept a very small room? (~140 sq. ft)Let us know which zone(s), by PRICELINE name, you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. partyof6 Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 I need some advice. I was on this site a couple of weeks ago asking questions regarding my (now) current New York City trip I bought through Hotwire. I'm on night 2 and a mouse just ran from under my bed through my luggage and somewhere toward the door. I couldn't see because I was busy jumping on top of my bed. I paid for 5 days and I'm freaking out. Any chance getting my money back and getting the heck out of here???
