ande67 Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 I am wanting a room in New Orleans for April 28. wanting to be in French quarter, but can do downtown. ideally, FQ. so say I bid 4* $100. should I just do FQ? or should I list them both as possible options to start with? on priceline
thereuare Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages.First Reply:Are you willing to pay more to stay in the FQ vs. Downtown OR is your goal the least expensive in either zone? What is your maximum bid for a 4* hotel for this trip?Second Reply:I just took a look at rates for these dates, and although things can change between now and your stay, currently rates are very high and i don't think $100 is close to where you need to be in either zone... at the moment you'll likely need to be $200+ for this nite. What is the best rate you're currently able to find at an acceptable hotel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ande67 Posted April 12, 2012 Author Report Posted April 12, 2012 I did not realize Jazzfest was going on then... so I've decided on the 21st... been to $212 for 3* in French quarter & downtown. I don't think it's reasonable to go any higher than that. will I have better luck last minute?Oh- and as far as best rates go, the few hotels open are 280-500+
thereuare Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 Nobody can say if rates will come down between now and your stay... or move even higher, but for more on this subject see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.As your plans appear to be flexible, are you able to change your visit to a different set of dates? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ande67 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Report Posted April 15, 2012 After repeatedly trying for hotels in the FQ & CBD for the past week, going all the way to 2.5* & $250 with no success... I was able to book this 4* for 150!
