Please assist with bidding strategy for a 4 star and my maxImum bid would be $170/- per night. I saw a win for Affinia Manhattan at $135/- for around the same dates but as I understand some 3-star hotels may be rather small and quite a distance to the subway. Thanks in advance.

Before suggesting a strategy for the above, is there a reason you're not including MTW and/or TS in your bidding? Most users also find these zones to be convenient and well located, but sure if these don't work for your specific plans or if there are hotel(s) in these zones that you're trying to avoid.

Let us know if you want to include either/both of these other zones OR stick with the four you've mentioned, and we'll advise accordingly.

I am open to both MTW and TS though my concern would be TS being too touristy to stay as i much prefer to be further from the TS hotspots. Also I should add that being near to a subway would be ideal for our transportation needs. Thanks.

From the above i'm not sure if we should include TS in a bidding strategy or not. Most of the hotels in this zone are not exactly at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue (and even then there is usually an entrance on one of the cross streets which makes it a little easier to enter/exit the hotel), but ultimately it's your stay and you know best which zone(s) would work for your needs.

Unsuccessful bids up to $180.00. Should I be lowering down to 3.5 stars as I see Affinia Manhattan being won around $135.00. Appreciate any assistance. Thamks

Whether to drop your star rating now depends upon how quickly you want to get this done and/or your needs for this trip... it's still 2 months before your stay so it may be a little early to lower your star rating if you really want a 4* hotel for this trip. The length of your stay may also be part of the issue as i do think you can get a 4* hotel for the weekend dates (6/29-7/2) for less than you have already bid, then try to pick up a different hotel for the beginning nites of your stay... but not sure if SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID is an option or not.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.

Bidded up to $195 using the Bonus cash reward but no success. Am getting worried now. Splitting my stay is not ideal for us, and should I:

1) stick with strategy a bit longer

2) add financial district

3) lower star level - try to get affinia manhattan

Appreciate your advice and patience.

In reviewing what you've already done i noticed that you have not included Times Square in your bidding... is there a reason you're intentionally not including this zone in your bidding?

Thanks.

TS was intentionlly left out as we felt it was too touristy. However, we would now have to revisit our options and now include this zone. And yes, I did click the PRICELINE link at the top of the page when I bidded. Tks again.

So if repeating the previous 4* strategy but including TS, what is your maximum bid?

For all zones bid i think you may need to be ~$190-$215 for a 4* in this area.

Let us know what you'd like to use as your maximum bid and we'll advise accordingly.

My max bid will be $190 tops as rates are crazy this year! What if I include soho as I have seen some good wins at sherton tribeca? Is it near the subway? Or alternatively drop to a 3.5 star? Am also tempted to use Hotwire if all else fails. Definitely using yr PRICELINE link. Thanks a trillion again!

The Sheraton Tribeca is near a few different subway lines/stations.

What did you want to try first:

  • previous bid zones up to $190, then add Soho if rejected
  • previous bid zones and Soho up to $190 (looking for the least expensive of these acceptable zones
  • bid the 3.5* level

Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Won The Empire at $143/- total $1001+178.29+41.72=$1221.01

Was asked to top up $40/- when I bidded $130/- for ESB, MTE and UWS. Ignored and persevered to $143.00 (using $30 bonus reward) and got The Empire. Very pleased as we have stayed there in 2010 (won at $120 then). Used the PRICELINE link. Thanks a trillion. Now have to wing my vancouver and Seattle stays.
