tawbrey Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 I'm very excited about an upcoming mom/son trip for me and my 11 year old son. We would like to get a 4* for 125 a night or under. I have tried a couple of times starting around $80-90 and rebidding adding non 4* areas with no luck up to $115. I would consider dividing my stay up and doing a 3.5* for part of the time at Fisherman's Wharf since I think he would enjoy that. Is this a realistic bid for that time of year? Thanks in advance for your advice.
tawbrey Posted April 13, 2012 Author Report Posted April 13, 2012 Ok, so I actually kept playing around and added Union Square West-Nob Hill and went up to $120. At the time, I was only looking at the dates of 5/20-6/2. I got the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental for $120. I was given the option to extend my stay at the same price, but when I chose that option, it was offered to me at a rate of $168 for the remaining 3 nights. I declined, so now I need to find another room for our last three nights. Any ideas on which areas might offer a nice change of pace and other activities?
AaronJB Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Terrific deal for this San Fran Intercontinental property, and hope you are looking forward to your stay. Please start a new thread for the additional nights and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed. The additional nights seem moderately more expensive in all areas, although not by much - I'd guess approximately $140-155 would be what is required for a 4* in the core zones, although it's worth (and you have time) to start lower and work up to those levels.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
tawbrey Posted April 14, 2012 Author Report Posted April 14, 2012 Thanks. I am very happy with the property. I thought I did go through Better Bidding's link to PRICELINE. I had so many windows open at one point that I guess I got mixed up. Sorry :( I'll definitely use the link for bidding on my other 3 nights.
