tweety121 Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 Hello,We are going to visit NYC for the first time 5/26~5/31. We are looking for 1 room with budget around $200/night (tax and fees all included), lower than $200 would be better. We'd like to stay somewhere clean (3.5* ~4*, no lower than 3*)and convinient. We don't mind walking a little bit to get to the public transportation if we have to. Please help with priceline bidding strategies. Thanks a lot.
thereuare Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?Although you mention 'walking a little to the subway' is acceptable, is a 15 minute walk acceptable? What about a very small room (~140 sq. ft.)... would this be acceptable?Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tweety121 Posted April 13, 2012 Author Report Posted April 13, 2012 We'd prefer walking time under 10 minutes. 140sq ft is a bit too small. We are willing to increase the budget to $250/night (tax and fees all included) to get the best we can within this budget.
thereuare Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Your $250 all-in budget is equivalent to about a $210/nite bid amount. I take your previous comments to indicate that you prefer to try first for a 4* hotel up to $210... then if that is rejected try at the 3.5* level? If you enter NYC into the search box on the top right of this page the ensuing page will show a map with zone boundaries on it. If you zoom in on the map, are you willing to accept a hotel in any of the MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB zones? Any of these that you want to exclude or any other that you wanted to include? Please confirm your zones and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tweety121 Posted April 13, 2012 Author Report Posted April 13, 2012 Update: $170 winning bid for Shoreham in MTW.I hope this is a good deal, is it?
thereuare Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Congratulations on your success! This is a very nice discount vs. a conventionally booked room at this property for these dates and a good deal for this time of year.Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
