JHN Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 I'm visiting NYC from the 9th to the 16th. For the past few days, I've been bidding for the entire stay (started at $110 and ended at $156). Yesterday, I started bidding by splitting the dates. Today, I was successful for the 6/9 to 6/12 part (started at 130 and worked up to 156). I was offered a chance to extend my stay until 6/15 (same hotel/same price), but the bid was not accepted. I have three questions:1. For the remaining days (6/12-6/16), Hotwire offers a 4* Jersey City hotel ("Hoboken - Jersey City - North Bergen area hotel") for $148/night with id information of "90% Hotwire customer recommendation" and "Smoke-free rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurants." From what I can gather, this is the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor. Do you agree with this ID?2. If I want to stick with Priceline for the remaining time, do you think I would have more luck by splitting the remaining 4 days (something like 6/12-14 and 6/14-16)? I want to keep it under $160/night. However, I'm also not wild about potentially having to change hotels three times (W to Westin to Hyatt Regency).3. I'm not averse to staying at the 3* Jersey City hotels, if I can be assured that I'm going to get either the Courtyard or the Doubletree. Here, I want something close to PATH (both are). If I decide to go the 3* route, will I be assured of one of these two?Thank you!
JHN Posted April 14, 2012 Author Report Posted April 14, 2012 Any thoughts/ideas re the questions I posed in the first post? Also, Priceline shows a 3.5* designation for this area, but this site's list doesn't include any 3.5* hotels. Are there any? Thanks again.

However, I'm also not wild about potentially having to change hotels three times (W to Westin to Hyatt Regency).I think you'll be successful for a 4* in this zone for 6/14-6/16 (for even less than the rate above)... but 6/12-/6/14 will cost you more. If successful for 6/12-/6/14 you could try to extend that stay to 6/12 (if offered) OR you could take some of the savings and even likely stay in Manhattan for these two nites and come out with the same ~$160/average rate you're seeking to hit.3. I'm not averse to staying at the 3* Jersey City hotels, if I can be assured that I'm going to get either the Courtyard or the Doubletree. Here, I want something close to PATH (both are). Are there any?You can't be assured of one of these two properties. As per the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List the lists only contain hotels reported to the board. With this noted i do know this area very well and it's a fairly small zone... i don't know of any 3.5* hotels in the area so this could be the rare exception where PRICELINE lists a star rating in the zone but doesn't actually have any hotels in the zone at this star level. HOWEVER, it is best to be conservative and assume that if PRICELINE does offer a hotel in the zone, that they do indeed have a hotel at that star rating. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly, but please post your next reply as a NEW TOPIC so that we will have a 'clean' topic title to ultimately reflect the details of what you decide to do for the remaining nite(s) of your trip. JHN Posted April 14, 2012 Author Report Posted April 14, 2012 Thanks for answering my questions. I will start a new topic on the remaining days, but I did want to clarify that I used the PRICELINE link on this page to initiate this purchase (W Hotel, 6/9-6/12).
