tphan60 Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 I need a hotel on Clearwater Beach (not Sand Key) and I am on a budget. I do not want to spend more than $120/night but I do want a nice place to rest my head. Is that unrealistic? It seems they do not have a lot of choices on Clearwater Beach. Also, is it too early to be bidding on Priceline? Thanks for any advice.
thereuare Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 We usually don't hear about this area too often, not sure why we're suddenly getting a few posts inquiring, but as i recently replied to a similar thread...Sunny Isles is part of PRICELINE's 'North Miami Beach' zone, which includes a bit more area than just Sunny Isles. If you enter 'Sunny Isles, FL' into the PRICELINE search box on the top right of this page, you can then zoom in on the area and see the boundaries that PRICELINE uses for this zone... are you willing to stay anywhere within the boundaries of this zone?If not, HOTWIRE may be an option. While their zone also extends beyond Sunny Isles, you can often take an educated guess as to what hotel is being offered and therefore also have a guess as to the location. However, no guarantees as you'll have to have guessed correctly ;) If you search HOTWIRE for your dates, does anything appear within your desired star rating and budget? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tphan60 Posted April 19, 2012 Author Report Posted April 19, 2012 I'm sorry, I'm talking about Clearwater Beach, not Miami.
thereuare Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Sorry... not sure how i managed to get on a Sunny Isles tangent. However, similar issue/princal...Using BiddingHelper.com (an easy search box in the middle of the page at the top of the board) and enter Clearwater Beach, FL. After the page fully loads you'll be on the PRICELINE tab. Click the 'detail map' next to Clearwater Beach... then zoom in on the area using the map controls. You'll see that the this zone includes not only Clearwater Beach but also the shaded area below it (part of Sand Key)From there, scroll up and click the HOTWIRE TAB. If you see a listing for 'Clearwater Beach' click the "area map" link and zoom in on the map of the area... you'll see this zone too not only includes Clearwater Beach but a similar area of Sand Key as well).Regardless of which service you used, you'll need to be able to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone(s) you select. Is this acceptable or is the zone too large for your needs this trip? If you need a specific location within the zone see our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com where you can easily see not only the hotel locations, but also quickly see how much more/less it will cost to go up/down in star rating OR to stay closer/further from your ideal location. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
