ladykirk_lou Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 If you are booking a room on Hotwire for two adults and one child (14 year old), are you guaranteed two beds? The reason I'm asking is that when I select two adults and one child, one of the selections is a 4.5 star in Soho/Financial District for $179 (I'm guessing the Tribeca Grand or the W Downtown). But when I select three adults, the same hotel pops up but the price increases to $248. Any help would be appreciated.
thereuare Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 If you are booking a room on Hotwire for two adults and one child (14 year old), are you guaranteed two beds?Welcome to BetterBidding!Your guaranteed accommodations for every one you include in your search. While this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, a rollaway brought into the room, etc.Assuming all other things being equal (the amenities and any other information shown by HOTWIRE) the difference in price you're seeing is more likely due to the hotel allowing children to stay for free vs. charging for any adults over double occupancy. I would even try searching 2adults/2children and if the price is the same then book using this adult/child combination as it may slightly improve your chances of receiving a room with 2 beds vs. 1 bed and an 'other type' of bed.If you'd like help guessing at the property please include the amenities that HOTWIRE associates with the hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. ladykirk_lou Posted May 8, 2014 Author Report Posted May 8, 2014 Since we couldn't confirm room bedding, we ended up booking a suite directly with The New Yorker at a reasonable rate. Thanks again for your advice and my apologies for the delay in following up.
