drdavidge2 Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Hey, first time using Priceline. I am looking for a 4* or better hotel in the Mag Mile / River north area this weekend, 4/13-4/15. What's the best way to go about using Priceline to get a nice hotel at a decent price?
AaronJB Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired max budget per night? Additionally, on PRICELINE, the River North-NMA area is fairly large - are you willing to stay anywhere within that zone? On HOTWIRE, one can specify the Mag Mile-Streeterville zone, which is the bottom half of the North Michigan Ave area (and including the River North neighborhood) or the North Michigan Ave-Water Tower-Gold Coast area (the top half of the NMA area and the Gold Coast neighborhood.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
drdavidge2 Posted April 10, 2012 Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 Thanks, it would be nice to grab something around $100 a night. I guess the question is.. are there many 4* hotels in the northern area of that zone that might come up if I bid that amount? I'd prefer the lower half if possible, think that is the more desirable area. On HOTWIRE, the inventory has been changing but the past few days it looked like the Intercontinental and Conrad were coming up at about $115.
thereuare Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 ... are there many 4* hotels in the northern area of that zone that might come up if I bid that amount?Use the Priceline Hotel list and our new Priceline Maps... the latter you can easily see all the hotels in this zone (simply uncheck the other zones) plotted on a map, and the hotel markers are designated by star rating (and color) so it's easy to see where the distributions within the zone lies (you can even only checkmark 4* hotel to make it easier to see only the 4* hotel on the map) ;)On HOTWIRE, the inventory has been changing but the past few days it looked like the Intercontinental and Conrad were coming up at about $115.If the NMA-River North zone is too large are you willing to pay a little more than your $100 budget to use HOTWIRE where 1) the zone is a bit smaller, and 2) you can take a guess as to the hotel before your purchase, which also gives you an educated guess as to the location. It's a trade-off budget between narrowing the location a bit vs. paying a little more. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
