adriennemn Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Hi,I am hoping to Priceline a hotel in the downtown Chicago area for the weekend of 6/8-6/10/12. I would like to spend at most $100 per night, but hoping for around $75.Any advice on bidding strategy? Thanks!Adrienne
thereuare Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Which zone(s) are you looking to bid? Only NMA-River North OR is the Loop zone acceptable as well? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. AaronJB Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Additionally, what would be your desired star rating? Chicago is generally quite reasonable in the colder portions of the year (around December-March/April), but once the Summer starts, rates really start to ramp. I think $100 or less is going to be very difficult (and quite possibly not possible) for downtown for these dates.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
adriennemn Posted April 9, 2012 Author Report Posted April 9, 2012 Thank you for your response. Both areas are acceptable and we are very willing to take a lower star rating. Thanks!
adriennemn Posted April 9, 2012 Author Report Posted April 9, 2012 To clarify...the Loop zone is actually preffered. For the rating, we are not too concerned, we will be visiting friends and the hotel will only be for sleeping as her apartment does not have enough space.
thereuare Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Rates are high for these dates and i don't think $100 will likely be enough, but to give it a try, just how low of a star rating did you want to try for first? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. adriennemn Posted April 13, 2012 Author Report Posted April 13, 2012 We aren't really too concerned about the hotel and won't be spending a lot of time ther so as long as it is safe and clean it is fine. 3 star or 2.5 star. Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Rates have actually come down a bit in the last few days, still not sure if $100 will be enough, but i think you're at least within striking distance. Let's start with the following:At the 3* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Loop...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* NMA...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Loop and NMA...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
