tbird Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 Looking for a Hotel in Boston 4/27-30. Any suggestions of price? I have bid twice so far. Prefer Back Bay or close to it.4* Back Bay - $152 rejected4* Back Bay + Fenway - $157 - rejected. Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 Looks like these are fairly expensive dates in Boston... are any other zone(s) acceptable? What is your maximum bid for a 4* property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tbird Posted April 7, 2012 Author Report Posted April 7, 2012 Theater or Financial would be okay, just prefer Back Bay. Hotwire has a 4 1/2* in Financial for $200 so I was hoping to be under that price.
thereuare Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Theater or Financial would be okay, just prefer Back Bay.Did you want to first bid Back Bay up to $200, then if rejected include the other two zones... OR does price prevail and your goal is the least expensive 4* in any of the three zones? Also, when bidding 4* in this region you have FIVE re-bid zones, but you only appear to be using one of them, do you know how to determine your re-bid zones (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) and able to determine all FIVE of them? If you're new to re-bidding it's highly recommended you ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there. tbird Posted April 9, 2012 Author Report Posted April 9, 2012 I would rather have a lower price and stay within those three zones. I thought I had used two zones. Back Bay and Fenway.I think I know how but tell if this is correct. :) My next step would be to:add Brighton-Brookline bid 162.00if rejected add Medford bid 167.00if rejected add North Cambridge bid 172.00if rejected add South Boston bid 177.00Those are my five re-zone areas. Is that correct?Thank you!
thereuare Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 I would rather have a lower price and stay within those three zones... I thought I had used two zones. Back Bay and Fenway.Your first quote conflicts with the bidding you've done...Since Fenway is a re-bid zones, you've really only bid the Back Bay zone thus far. The question is if you want to only bid Back Bay up to your $200 limit... OR would you prefer the least expensive 4* hotel in either the Theater, Financial, or Back Bay zones? Please clarify, or ask questions if we're still not on the same page, adn we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tbird Posted April 9, 2012 Author Report Posted April 9, 2012 Oh, because I have not added Theater or Financial areas? So I should add one of those areas first? Which one first or does it matter? Can I bid $157 again since it's been two days? Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Few things....The lock-out period is 24 hours, so you can always bid again after 24 hours. If you're willing to accept a hotel in Back Bay, Theater or Financial, you can try the following using your FIVE re-bid zones (which you've correctly identified above... but always double check just before bidding to make sure nothing has changed)...Select 4* Back Bay...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Financial...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Theater...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Back Bay and Financial...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Back Bay and Theater...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Back Bay and Theater and Financial...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $198, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask.You should be able to make all of those bids in the same bidding session, and i do think you'll be successful at $200 or under. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. tbird Posted April 11, 2012 Author Report Posted April 11, 2012 Won the Hyatt Regency for $190/ night. The same hotel goes for $195 a night on hotels.com. Taxes were less on hotels .com so the price is exactly the same! Wasn't worth the time I spent bidding when I could have just booked it. :(
thereuare Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 Sorry to hear this one didn't turn out to be too much of a deal/savings, but hopefully you're pleased with the hotel received and this will be convenient for your needs this trip.Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
