shipper Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 I am new to this and got a rate of 71.19 for a 4 star hotel down town on 5-10 for one night. I wonder if this good and should I bid? Using the PRICELINE link.
shipper Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 The 71.19 wasnt taken and I raised it to $60 before tax and it still wasnt good. Changed my star rating to 4 and 3.5 and it still didnt go. I guess I will have to wait another day or so?
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)A few questions/notes:Please provide the bids you've made in USD$ before taxes/fees.Are you only looking for Downtown-Pike Place, and what would be your desired max bid per night for this stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
shipper Posted April 5, 2012 Author Report Posted April 5, 2012 I bid $55 and $60 before taxes on 4 and 3.5 star hotels downtown. No luck with those.I would like to stay downtown Pike Place as I have a cruise on 5-11 and would like to be close to pier 66 if possible. My max would be $90 I guess. Thanks
shipper Posted April 6, 2012 Author Report Posted April 6, 2012 I raised my bid using the PRICELINE link to $85 for 4 star in downtown Pike Place and still was not excepted. I guess all the others I have seen who got rooms around this price were luckier than me.
thereuare Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 I woudldn't necessarily say that they're 'luckier' than you are, but rather that demand (and therefore rates) for their dates may be less than rates for your own stay. With the above noted, rates aren't that high for your nite above and it may just be a little early for hotels to discount too deeply. I'd book a fully refundable back-up (try MAPS and HOTELS.com or Pre Cruise Hotels) and continue trying PRICELINE over the next few weeks. I don't think you're likely too far away from a win, and $90-$110 may be enough, but you can wait a little while to see if you want to increase your bid or not, as well as see what your back-up reservation will cost and then determine if it's worthwhile bidding higher at this time. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if we can be of further help along the way. shipper Posted April 7, 2012 Author Report Posted April 7, 2012 I found it odd that the Pre Cruise Hotels Hotels doesn't have Seattle as one of its ports? I tried to send a email to them asking for Seattle to be added and it came back with something to the affect not deliverable?I will keep looking and thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 I found it odd that the Pre Cruise Hotels Hotels doesn't have Seattle as one of its ports? That is another one our sites. It was recently launched a few months ago at a time when no cruises were leaving from Seattle, i now recall it was on the 'to do' list to include Seattle, which i'll try to get to this weekend. (i'll also look into the email issue)Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
