sue450 Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 This is my first time using this site and first time making a "blind" hotel reservation. Appreciate all the info and help.Looking for 2 rooms for 6 adults for the night of Saturday 4/14. Want to stay in the Magnificent Mile area as that's where we'll be shopping and eating dinner. Based on my reading it's my understanding that I need to use Hotwire due to the fact that we need to accomodate more than 2 people in each room (3+3 or 4+2). The best price I can find is $118 per room per night. That seems a little high compared to what others are finding for different dates. Any idea why? Would also like a "best guess" as to which hotel this would be? No other amenities are identified. I understand that after I book I can contact the hotel directly to request 2 beds and non-smoking rooms. With HOTWIRE can I be certain that the rooms we're given will accomodate 3 per room? Any idea how likely it is that we'll get non-smoking? Thanks.3.5* Magnificent Mile-Streeterville area hotel-Recommended in 90% of Hotwire reviews-Tripadvisor rating is 4.0 out of 5-Fitness Center-Pool(s)-Restaurant(s)-Business Center-High-Speed Internet Access
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)If you search for more than 2 adults per room, you are going to see higher rates due to extra person fees commonly being added into the price you're seeing (usually if one searches for 3 or 4 adults on HOTWIRE, most properties are more than the options given if searching for only two.)Additionally, if there's anything going on on these dates, rates may be higher - rates can vary significantly from day-to-day.The Doubletree has been seen with this amenity set, so that would be my guess. If you are searching for more than 2 people per room, you should be ensured of some sort of bedding for the entire party (commonly 2 beds, but could be 1 + sofabed or other combo.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
sue450 Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Thanks so much for the help. This was by far the best price we could get for 4/14 and booked. It was indeed the Doubletree. Very happy!!!
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Congratulations on your success! Superb deal for this well-located Doubletree property. I'll also recommend Fox and Obel Market and Cafe (fox-obel.com), which is a couple of blocks SE at the corner of Illinois and McClurg. Very nice breakfast/lunch/dinner cafe, and the gourmet market is fun to browse around, as well.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
