renee1r Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Please help identify 4 1/2* NYC midtown East from 5/4/12-5/6/12Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Spa ServicesI looked under the list posted on this board and saw that it mostly matched with the Benjamin hotel. However, that confuses me a little, because I could only find one site that the Benjamin comes up as a 4 1/2*. I did see that it was noted on the list as previously being a 4*. So I just wanted to get everyones thoughts. I have to say I would rather the two other hotels that were listed, but I guess that's the chance we take with Hotwire. :) Thanks
AaronJB Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The Benjamin has been seen with this amenity set previously, so that would be my guess. Not all services show the same star rating.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
renee1r Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 Ok, so I just searched priceline and saw that the only area to have a 5* was Times Square. What is the best way to bid? Any tips for a good starting price? Would I start by choosing Times Square, then if rejected keep adding different zones and upping my price? Thanks
thereuare Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... if you ultimately use PRICELINE we'll move this thread to that section of the board once a hotel is won.Your approach above is correct, but i'll add that seasonally this is a very expensive time of year in NYC, and given there is only one 'known' 5* hotel in the zone, and it has not been known to discount very deeply, i think this may be a difficult win unless you're willing to bid very high... what is your maximum bid for this trip?Remember to always double check your re-bid zones just prior to bidding, and please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goe sor if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

renee1r Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Ok, so I bid up to $325 and didn't win. Oh well, it was worth a shot. I've decided to not use Hotwire or Priceline for this trip. I'm just too nervous after reading some of the reviews on hotels in NYC. Thank you for all the quick responses. I have some other trips coming up soon and will be sure to use this site. Thanks
