qarty Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 I am looking to book the Golden Nugget for Saturday night only. I will make another post for the hotel(s) I want for the rest of my trip, but since Saturday is more expensive in Vegas and we are doing stuff downtown that night, I figured it would be best to spend one night there and stay at a cheaper place than the 5 stars we are looking for the rest of our trip Sun-Thu. Plus the Golden Nugget seems to have a pretty reasonable pool which is nice. Here's what I have so far for room prices:Golden Nugget site: $109+tax ($123 w/ tax)Hotwire 4* Fremont St: $87 ($106 w/ tax)Priceline 4* Fremont St: Bid $40-50 in $2 increments using free rebids and was rejected. Long shot, but I figured I'd try.I have identified the following free rebid zones:Boulder StripHendersonNW Las VegasNellisSummerlinWhat sort of strategy would you guys recommend? Our trip is 3 1/2 months out so it may be too early to Priceline? What sort of price do you think I can get now and by waiting until closer?Am I correct in assuming the only 4* on Fremont St is Golden Nugget? Thanks for your help and I'll start another thread right now for Sun-Thu.
thereuare Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please click each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links, then reply to this thread and we'll have a look at the offer above.NOTE: Summerlin is NOT a re-bid zone when bidding 4* in Las Vegas Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
qarty Posted April 2, 2012 Author Report Posted April 2, 2012 Done.Really? Summerlin only lets you select 3.5 stars on Priceline if you wanted to bid on it. Doesn't that make it a free rebid zone?
qarty Posted April 2, 2012 Author Report Posted April 2, 2012 Bid up to $60 today with no luck. I can get it direct through Golden Nugget for $109 and HOTWIRE still showing it for $87.Not sure how high I should go before just booking direct through the hotel and waiting it out.
AaronJB Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Really? Summerlin only lets you select 3.5 stars on Priceline if you wanted to bid on it. Doesn't that make it a free rebid zone? You could possibly be upgraded to resort in that zone. The star rating your select is the minimum that you are willing to accept, so if you include Summerlin your 3.5* bid could be upgraded to a Resort class hotel offered in this zone.If HOTWIRE is showing what appears to be the Golden Nugget at $87 and you've bid to $60, I'm guessing you're looking at $65-80.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
qarty Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 Bid up to $70 and still nothing. Not sure I'm willing to go much higher at the moment. Might go up to like $75 tomorrow and then just book it direct through Golden Nugget and try again in a few months.
qarty Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 I don't get this. I'm bidding 4 stars. Summerlin only has 3.5 star properties on Priceline. How are they going to upgrade me from a 4 star to a 3.5 star?
thereuare Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Enter 'Las Vegas' and your dates in the search box on the top right corner of the board. On the ensuing page, select 'Summerlin' and then scroll down to the list of zones... do you see how 4* is not highlighted, but if you look at the bottom of the list, beneath '1 star', that 'Resort' are offered in this zone? So you're correct that you won't be upgraded to a 4* hotel... but it IS possible that you're upgraded to a Resort level property. Does that make it clearer? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. qarty Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Whoa never noticed that before. So they consider resort above 4* or above 5*?
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Whoa never noticed that before. So they consider resort above 4* or above 5*?Above 4*, but below 5*.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Golden Nugget of course.Just under $90 including tax. Hotwire was $106 including tax and GN web site was $123 including tax. I'll take it.
