spanishjam Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Am looking for a hotel in Midtown NYC preferably the theater district or even upper west side. Need 1 room with two bedsWill be for my family 2 adults and 2 children (aged 11 and 15).Dates will be checking in on April 8 check out April 13Budget of about 150 per nightI see some lucky bidders have won Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers which would be ideal. offer will be greatly aAny help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
thereuare Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Need 1 room with two bedsPRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. While this is a risk in any city, the risk is considered greater in NYC as many hotels have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed and/or consider rooms with two beds to be an upgrade. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. spanishjam Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 Got some help from previous threads on Times Square hotels offering suites. Was a no brainer to figure out my stay when amenities included a Suite in Times Square as the other thread confirmed the only hotel offering such was Double Tree. Am really Happy with getting the suite for 3 adults and 1 child for 227 per night. And of course I booked using the links on this board. This Site Rocks! It is my 6th booking in the last 6 weeks!!!!

spanishjam Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 The parameters of the search that I started with are not the same that I used for finding this hotel and the dates of conducting the search are different and still you choose to merge my threads. Defeats the purpose of informing you and the public of how and when I achieved my results. Maybe that is not important to you? You have done this on numerous occasions and I find it to be strange. I guess if your objective is to post results than maybe you have a point but in my opinion the result is only 1/2 the story. How we achieved the result by virtue of the "hunt" is just as important. But again, maybe its not your goal.
spanishjam Posted April 1, 2012 Author Report Posted April 1, 2012 The amenities is the same as my other booking but the difference is that my first booking had a 95% recommended rating and this one said the hotel was still under observation and/or awaiting feedback.4-star Hotel in Times Square - Theatre DistrictThis Hotel features the following amenities:Suite Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access
thereuare Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 The parameters of the search that I started with are not the same that I used for finding this hotel and the dates of conducting the search are different and still you choose to merge my threads. Defeats the purpose of informing you and the public of how and when I achieved my results.I think the current format better shows other users how the win was achieved... others can see by reading your post(s) that you changed the dates and that it was necessary to do so in order to achieve the win. If the threads were separate, others might think that it just came 'easy' as they would only see the win and not that you needed to be flexible and change the dates in order to achieve it.How we achieved the result by virtue of the "hunt" is just as important... the result is only 1/2 the story.Agreed, which i think further supports the idea that all wins for the same stay go in the same thread... if they were kept separate then future readers would only be getting half the story, this way the entire 'journey' is one location. As well, what typically happens when users create a new thread for their win, is that they never follow-up the original thread (so users only see the 'results' and not the 'journey' to get there). This resulted in the board having too many threads which had no conclusion to them, but which actually resulted in a win (it's just that the win was posted in a separate thread). The amenities is the same as my other booking...Thanks for adding the amenities, we liked to confirm them for each win to make sure that nothing has changed since last reported to the board, as well as having a 'record' of what the amenities were at this point in time so that it can be referred back to for if/when the amenities change. As well, this further goes with the idea of having all the information in one place for future readers, this way they don't need to toggle between this thread and the hotel list, nor need to go find your other thread.Hope the above explains the format(s) we currently use on the board.
