busterla Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 Used betterbidding PRICELINE link.Bid $30 3.5 stars in ArdenBid $34 3.0 stars in ArdenBid $35 3.5 stars in Arden and Elk Grove (no 3 stars or + there)Bid $37 3.0 stars in Arden and Elk Grove (no 3 stars or + there)Bid $40 3.0 stars in Arden and Elk Grove and West Sacramento ((no 3 stars or + there)and won.Slight mistake -- should have tried 3.5 stars first when I added W. Sacramento.A little disappointed with my win -- its reviews are kind of mediocre. Plus the hotel charges $10/day for in-room wifi and, it looks like, $8/day for self-parking. So reality is with tax and these charges it'll be more like $66/night. Not horrific, but it's always a downer to see these kind of charges pop up, especially when the hotel is not downtown, so u don't expect to have to pay to park.
thereuare Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 Sorry to see you're a bit disappointed in the additional charges, but even 'all-in' this still looks to be a pretty good deal vs. what you'd pay for a comparable hotel booked conventionally... and hopefully the chocolate chip cookies at check-in will help make you feel better :)Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Have a great trip. JNinCA Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Yes, I've stayed at the Doubletree between Arden Faire Mall and Cal Expo, and it does charge for parking. Kind of ridiculous considering the suburban area. In-room internet is free only if you are a Hilton Gold member. Wireless internet is free in the public areas, and expect to see lots of guys sitting in the public areas with their laptops.
