kascherr Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Hello,Heading to NYC in late April and I'm looking to stay 4* in MTE, MTW, TS or CPS. Just want to confirm that these are still the free re-bid zones:Queensborough BridgeLong Island CityConey IslandUpper East SideMadison Square Garden Any help on bidding strategy would be greatly appreciated also. Looking to stay around the $150 bid price if at all possible. Here is the strategy you gave for our stay in December…think we should take the same approach for April?Select 4* MTE and MTW and TS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Times Square, MTE, MTW or CPS...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Thanks,Andrew

thereuare Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 The zones you've listed above are still re-bid zones, but i'll add that there are now SEVEN re-bid zones available when bidding 4* in the NYC region. See Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to confirm your other re-bid zones with the board. The strategy above is valid, but this is one of the more expensive times of year in NYC and based upon current prices i'd be surprised if $150 would be enough for a 4* hotel in the zones you're bidding. You can certainly give it a try, but i think there is a good chance you'll need to raise your bid, consider other zones, and/or lower your star rating. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Verbat Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 You should always check the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and see what other people have won on the dates that you are looking for.Like thereuare said, the end of April is a busy season in NYC so getting a hotel at $150 will be very hard. I would suggest starting your bid at $150 and going up. With the 7 re-bidding zones in NYC you can get up to $185 with jumps of $5 each time.If you want something cheaper you should probably check the Downtown Financial District or lower your star rating a bit.You still have a month before your visit so it doesnt hurt if you try the $150 you want but you should probably be prepared to pay more.
kascherr Posted August 17, 2012 Author Report Posted August 17, 2012 Ended up moving and not going to NYC. Thanks for all of the help though.
