jcniesen Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Hello,I had some friends refer me to your site - they had great luck with Hotwire/Priceline. thereuare Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Yes, prices are higher than usual for these dates as i'm guessing there is a large conference or event taking place in town. What is your maximum budget per nite for this trip... are you willing to pay $250+ for a hotel room? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jcniesen Posted March 29, 2012 Author Report Posted March 29, 2012 I'd like to stay around $200/night. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 I've excluded the $250 and $275 hotels since they're over your budget at the moment. Of the hotels in your price range, but guess for each is as follows:4* Mag Mile at $189/nightHotel Felix4* NMA at $172/nightWestin Michigan Avenue Chicago or Allerton Crowne Plaza4* Loop $190/nightHotle Allegro or Hotel BurnhamLet us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. jcniesen Posted April 2, 2012 Author Report Posted April 2, 2012 Given the prices for this weekend, do you think I'm better off using PRICELINE instead of HOTWIRE? Thanks for your help!!
AaronJB Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 The two services are very different, and it depends on what option sounds better/works better for this trip. HOTWIRE is generally more expensive, but you can take an educated guess as to which hotels are showing. PRICELINE is generally cheaper, but if you bid for a particular star rating in a particular area, you have to be willing to accept any of the possible hotels - there is no way to increase the odds of a particular property. What are you looking for in terms of a hotel? If you want to use PRICELINE, please let us know.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jcniesen Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 Location is really the most important in the hotel. I would prefer 4* or 4.5* for the nicer rooms/amenities. I will look at tips on your Priceline page and decide which way to go. I'll make sure to start my search via your PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links. Thanks for your help!

AaronJB Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 This morning, when searching for two adults only for these dates, I'm now seeing a 4* in the Loop for $170 (the price you see may vary slightly) with no amenities associated with the listing. Although it could be a different hotel hiding amenities, the Radisson Blu Aqua (which opened a few months ago) has been previously reported to the board with no amenities showing. Additionally, if you click "see details" on the listing, there is a 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating showing halfway down on the detail page. Please let us know if this listing is of interest (and if so, if it is also showing when search) and if you have any additional questions. Thank you for keeping us updated. Thanks for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
