akshay79 Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 Hi, After bidding for weeks...I finally got the Renaissance O'Hare Suites Hotel from 05/16 - 05/20 (4 nights) for $127 each - making a total of $600. This is my first time winning a bid!!I am going to take an exam on Friday as well as I am planning on showing my dad who is visiting around the city on the weekend. I was wondering if I have to rent a car or if I could just get away using the public transport, kindly advice. Thanks for the help,Akshay
thereuare Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you were ultimately successful and are pleased with the results... your first PRICELINE win!I'd suggest taking mass transit from O'Hare to Downtown... no traffic hassles, you get a chance to talk with your dad for a bit on the train ride in, and no parking or rental expense. The trip is about 45-60 minutes (i forget which exactly, but AaronJB can confirm if/when he sees this thread)Thank you for sharing your win with the board. akshay79 Posted March 28, 2012 Author Report Posted March 28, 2012 Thank you so much for the thoughtful information...definitely taking the train sounds like a better idea!!I was wondering why the hotels are relatively more expensive in the airport area, I tried adding in many options when I was bidding but no luck...is there a specific reason for the high prices?
thereuare Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 The Airport zone(s) are usually the least expensive in most regions, and this is true for Chicago as well. While this is expensive in dollar terms, i think it's actually one of the cheaper options for these dates, as Downtown is 2x-3x more for these dates. There is likely something BIG taking place in the Downtown zones and this often causes outlying areas to increase in price too as those traveling to the area look for reasonable alternatives to staying downtown (and many may look towards the airport, especially with the relatively good transportation options available to Downtown) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
akshay79 Posted March 28, 2012 Author Report Posted March 28, 2012 Oh...I guess I was lucky then... to get this hotel at this price for the dates..atleast I will be able to take the exam :) Thanks again for the information!!
