Priceline Hotel: 3* Miami (North Miami Beach) Newport Beachside Resort

After trying my hand bidding for 3.5 and 4 star hotels in Ft Lauderdale for an upcoming vacation, I got impatient and in moment of temporary insanity I clicked north miami 3 star before checking here first. I got the Newport Beachside *Resort* and then to my dismay saw on tripadvisor that it has 199 terrible reviews (of course that is out of 1400...but still). I know priceline is non-refundable, I've been booking hotels on priceline for a decade so I know there is no way out. But I'm traveling with my 3 year old daughter and the hotel sounds like complete pit (if we ask for a room with 2 beds, we'll be lucky if it has a window).

Does anyone here think someone on Priceline would have mercy on me and let us cancel since we are still going to re-book with priceline? I assume the answer is probably no, but wanted to check here to see if it could be done.

Please share your win with the board as while this not be the zone you wanted for this trip, it may help another user who does want to stay here. Please add your win in a reply to this thread and we'll then move this thread to the Priceline Florida section of the board and comment on your post above.

So that we can keep the board better organized and merge the appropriate threads, is this for your Hotwire North Fort Lauderdale trip for 4/15-4/16, your Hotwire Hollywood stay of 4/18-4/20, or some other dates (and do you have two stays in this area a few days apart OR is this the same trip and you're dates are flexible and you'll only be staying in the area for one of these sets of dates)

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Thanks.

Hi, sorry for confusion. I am traveling to Ft Lauderdale for 4 days, but was also booking for family too who is meeting me from overseas and who's dates overlap with mine but different arrival and return dates. After reading helpful tips on this site, I started trying different configurations and splitting up our itineraries in order to find the best deals for both of us.

For the 4/14 - 4/15 part, I booked through Hotwire - 4 star @ 82 in Ft Lauderdale, and I got the Westin Fort Lauderdale (400 Corporate Drive). With tax and fees total is $98.81.

Then I bid on priceline for 2 rooms [for me and my aunt] from 4/15-4/18, Ft Lauderdale, Areas: Hollywood, Ft Lauderdale Beach, Ft Lauderdale airport north, starting at 52 and getting up to 62 for 3.5 star and 4 star with no success.

Instead of patiently waiting it out for 24 hours, I switched zones to Miami, and bid $58 for a 3-star in North Miami (2 rooms from 4/15-4/18). I instantly won Newport Beachside Resort. Had I only looked at the PL hotel list on this site before making that move, I would have seen that Newport Beachside is the only 3 star in North Miami and would have then looked at tripadvisor (and avoided this mess)..

I hope this clears it up. I am still going to bid for the 4/18-4/20 part for my aunt...and will post those results here.

Did indeed get the Westin

Thanks.

Pleas post this win to the board as a NEW TOPIC so that will know about your win when searching the topic titles on the board and in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. In your post please include the star rating, city, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite, dates of your stay, and amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view all of this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

We've used this thread to reflect this purchase.

Please continue your previous Hotwire Hotel for these dates, even if you use PRICELINE, as we'll simply move the entire thread to that section of the board, if necessary, once a hotel is won.

As far as your win above in the 'wrong' zone, you could try calling PRICELINE and see if they will do anything for you. Their policy is "no refunds/no cancellations" but every so often they'll make an exception, but this is the exception and not the rule. Let them know that you made a mistake in the zone you selected and that while you're willing to accept your error, the reviews are really bad and you're very disappointed, and if anything can be done as you don't want to stay there based upon the reviews.

Good luck.
