Priceline Hotel: Bidding Help - Maui - Wailea Resort

Trying to get a resort in Wailea for 5/9 to 5/13. This is my first day trying and here are my attempts.

Wailea - Makena - $150

Kihei, Wailea - Makena - $160

Kahului, Kihei, Wailea - Makena - $170

I'm really hoping for Marriott Wailea Resort at $180/night MAX.

I am trying to bid at the resort level.

You're close enough to your maximum bid that you should reach that level on your next round of bidding. However, with only one 'known' hotel at the Resort level, it's possible that this property is not offering rooms to the opaque suppliers at this time OR not discounting as much as you would like. What is your game plan should you not be successful at $180 at this time?

I have not been having a lot of luck bidding up to $180. I decided to book through the hotel itself for $250/night + $30 reservation fee. This will be my backup if I can't get the hotel through priceline for a better rate by 5/5.

HOTWIRE has what i'm guessing to be the Makena Beach and Golf Resort for $190/nite and gets pretty good reviews, would this work for your stay?

Also, there is a pretty big gap between your maximum bid of $180 and your back-up reservation at $250, is $70/nite savings what you feel is needed to make an opaque purchase worthwhile?
