gmed Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 I've been trying Priceline every few days for the last 6 weeks. Was looking for 4* in the central areas (Boston Common - Theater District, Copley Square - Back Bay, Harbor Front- Aquarium, Quincy Market - Financial District, Waterfront - Convention Center )- no bites with bids up to $150 on repeated attempts. Deliberately omitted Boston Common - Theater District because didn't like one of the 4* in that zone.Added Airport zone - 4* - up to $140... (had previously gotten hotels there for $90)... no joy.Today tried 3* Copley Square - Back Bay... bid $150 - rejected and counterbid of ... wait for it... $222 (!)I figured this is a busy time of year. I don't mind walking / taking the T so decided to try the "Best Deal" zone of Cambrdige West - Harvard. Had recently added this area with bids of up to $130 with no luck.Success today with Hyatt Regency Cambridge @ $140 / night. Yes it's a little outside the city, but I'm very happy with the deal, having spent weeks trying to get one! Who knows, maybe I'll even cycle!! Total cost on Priceline $1,142Total cost on Hyatt.com $2,349 Savings of $1200 for the week.Of course, I used the PRICELINE link.Happy bidding!
